We may know each other or you may have looked around to learn more about me. This here, though, reflects my current focus. Inspired by Derek Sivers, this is a now page, and if you have your own site, you may consider one too.

FEBRUARY 7, 2025

50th Solar Return: I just turned 49 and have begun my 50th trip around the sun. To commemorate my half-century I’ve begun finalizing a list of 50 things I’ll be doing to enrich myself and celebrate life. I may share that list here.

Professional: I’m still at GMR Marketing, where I’ve spent eight and a half years. I love the clients and the people. The challenges and possibilities continue to intrigue me. There are days when I’m still in awe of what I get to do, waking up each day working on something new, exciting, and different.

Personal: 2024 was a year of change for me, something I haven’t wholly shared here, but I will if you ask. I feel a bit like a supernova, blowing off the outer atmosphere and now shining brighter, more focused, and beautiful.

I’m also in year two of coaching my nephew’s co-ed recreational basketball league. It’s 7th and 8th graders, and I’ve enjoyed imparting wisdom to each of them. While the points on the scoreboard do matter, week-to-week, it’s helping them find confidence that excites me most.

I’m also trying to stay more organized. As the calendar turned over, I would always have a few goals in mind, but I never documented them. Using a digital journal, I hope to stay on task.

More seriously, I sustained a concussion in December. After a nexus of work meetings in Philly and New York, I planned to enjoy Christmas in NYC with a long weekend. I enjoyed the market at Bryant Park, the lights around town, the Nutcracker, and a head cracker while ice skating at Rockefeller Center. I did well for about 50 minutes and do not recall my fall. I have a faint memory of, maybe, a child falling in front of me – but I’m not sure. I do have a shadowy memory of being concerned and scared. I knew I was alone, so I sought help from a staff member. I had over 30 minutes of lost memory, an ambulance ride around town, and now a cautionary story to tell.

Health: Since January of 2024, I’ve lost almost 30 pounds. However, I lost some habits I built up as October hit. I walked and meditated daily, maintained great water intake, and focused on portion control. I haven’t been able to kick sweets or my love for meat and potatoes. In the new year, I’m focused on getting back on track while adding swimming and yoga to my repertoire.

Through yoga, I’ve realized how little strength and flexibility I have. I’d like to improve that while shedding another 10-15 pounds. I’m not sure I can get all the way down to 200 pounds, but I do think it’d be nice.

Interests: I’m excited for Spring Training, although losing the voice of the Brewers is tough. A side effect of my concussion has been being more emotional. I shed more than a few tears after learning of Bob Uecker’s passing.

I’m also thinking about the house and what I might do to redecorate or even redesign. I’m not sure what path I’m taking yet, but I am exploring a few options.

I’m also trying to write more, which explains the updates here and my daily journaling. I hope to refine my writing style a bit more while creating an archive of content that I can begin pointing an LLM, or AI, towards.

I’m debating getting back into teaching as well. I greatly enjoyed my decade at Marquette University and would like to find another way to influence and inspire students.
